Name: Katie Hess
Hometown: Warren, MN
Where are you at in life now? I am currently living in Lancaster, MN where I am a fifth grade teacher teaching math and science for 4th, 5th, and 6th grade. I started the end of February and have been enjoying it since. I’m looking forward to going back this fall!
What takes up your spare time? Lesson planning, grading assignments, and making my classroom my own are what I do in most of my spare time. There are times here and there where I enjoy relaxing by watching a good movie, going home for the weekend, or going for a walk around town with friends!
Last good book you read: Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers
Hidden talent? I’ve discovered it recently – finding a spot on my desk for another pot-it note. There’s always room for another note.
Favorite Restaurant: It’s a tie between Applebee’s and Mi Rancho (in Bemidji) as it depends on if I am craving pasta or enchiladas.
What is your ideal vacation destination, and what would you do there? Anywhere along a lake and by some woods would be awesome! In the summer, I would sit and eat by the lake, wade or float in the water, listen to the loons at night, and go for walks through the woods. In the winter, I would go for a walk through the woods and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate in a warm cabin. Either way I would enjoy God’s nature.
Favorite Bible Story: Esther
A Bible verse that has been important to you this year: Ecclesiastes 1:2, 12:13
Favorite thing about Bluewater: The atmosphere! Good people, good conversations, good food, lots of activities, the beauty of nature everywhere, creating a sense of peace and relaxation.
What I’m most excited about for this summer: I’m most excited to meet people this summer whether they have been to camp before or it’s their first time. I can learn a lot from having conversations with people and hearing their stories of events they have gone through in life. Plus, kids have great imaginations and can have some pretty awesome and unique conversations!
